Lenovo P70: 5 reasons one should buy
Lenovo is working hard to make a strong presence in the market and for that, they are constantly adding new devices in their portfolio. While there are a lot of strong players in the budget segment, Lenovo is making sure they don’t go unnoticed. For this they recently launched the impressive Lenovo A6000 to go against the devices like Micromax Yu Yureka and Xiaomi Redmi 1S. Now they have come up with a new device that has been launched in China recently. This new device is the Lenovo P70. While offering a reasonably powerful hardware and support for 4G networks, this device comes with a huge battery so that you don’t have to think twice before playing a game on your phone while travelling. While there is no announcement yet, the device has been listed on the Lenovo website of couple of other countries as well. We take a closer look at the device and figure out why it could be a good buy. Here are the top five reasons.
While we usually don’t start with battery when talking about a phone, we are going to make an exception this time. The reason is that it has got a 4000 mAh battery. Most of the devices running similar hardware would come with batteries having capacity in the range of 2000 to 2600 and they offer pretty good battery life. Imagine what this device could do with its 4000 mAh battery. If you need numbers to believe the story, the standby life of this device is claimed to be north of a month and it drops only a bit on 3G and 4G networks. Thetalk time is impressive as well. The battery is packed inside the device and can’t be removed by the user. Even with such a big battery, the device isn’t very bulky unlike other big battery devices in the past. This brings us to another reason you should consider buying this device.
The reason we were talking about is this. With a 4000 mAh battery, you must be expecting an unusually fat device with weight same as a brick. We imagined something similar. Then the photos of the device weren’t exactly what we expected. They showcased a smart looking device with sharp styling. It is 142 mm tall, 72 mm wide and just 8.9 mm thick. We know that 8.9 mm is not ‘just’ but remember it packs in a 4000 mAh battery inside and it still is pretty impressive. And just in case you think that they have taken care of the size only, you are wrong again. The device doesn’t weight a lot either. It tips the scale at 149 Gms which is quite impressive. This is somewhere around the Asus Zenfone 5 or Moto G. Both the device come with almost half the battery capacity. The weight is distributed well in the device so you don’t actually feel the weight.
Octa core processor
The device is not just about powerful battery. It has got a powerful octa core chipset as well. It runs a MediaTek chipset with the eight cores running at a maximum clock speed of 1.7 GHz. There are many new budget device running octa core processors now so it doesn’t exactly offer something new here but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good. The processor can do a good job of handling resource hungry apps and games. To handle the graphics, it has a Mali GPU which can run up to a maximum clock speed of 700 MHz. A powerful hardware means that it won’t cause typical budget device issues and would offer effortless usage for most part of your usage.
Along with this the device offers an impressive amount of memory. Both RAM and internal storage. It has got 2 GB of RAM which is good enough to complement rest of the hardware. Many budget devices cut on the amount of RAM they come with. This makes the devices really annoying to use because the processor and GPU are crippled by the lack of enough free storage. Here however you will have plenty of free memory at all times making sure that you have a lag free experience. This would also allow for better multitasking capabilities. Apart from the abundance of RAM, this device comes with 16 GB of internal storage. That is more than enough memory for an average user and you might not even need to plug in a micro SD card slot. This way all of your content is in one place only and makes it easier to keep the device organised. With 4 or 8 GB of internal storage, even the basic users will have to use a memory card.
The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat at the moment but in other news it was being said that it will be updated to Lollipop soon. So this is good news for people who are sceptical about being stuck on an older version of android operating system. Lollipop offers a much better interface and many more features as compared to KitKat. An update would also make sure that you don’t get bored of your device anytime soon and have lot more to explore after you get the Android Lollipop. It also handles the apps differently which allows the apps to be launched much faster.
Recently we have seen many new devices come with 4G support and many of these have been budget devices. Xiaomi came up with the Redmi Note 4G, Micromax with the Yu Yureka and there are more lined up for the future. The Lenovo P70 is also a 4G device. While there are not many regions where you have access to 4G networks, operators are working on it. Some operators are already offering 4G services in some metro cities and will be expanding their geographical presence soon. This means that when 4G services arrive in your reason, you will be ready with a device that can let you make use of the speed.
