The whole world has caught the selfie fever. This is because camera phones have become so affordable that now everyone is carrying around one in their pockets. And with so many pictures being clicked, you can’t go rushing to strangers all the time and ask them to click a picture. With the selfie trend on-going, even device manufacturers have started focussing on devices that can capture great selfies. We have seen many devices come with high resolution cameras with wide angle lenses on the front. Here we list some of the devices that we think are the top selfie phones out there.
Top 5 Selfie Smartphones in 2014:
HTC One M8
Talk about features and this device makes it almost every list. The current HTC flagship device is quite an impressive one and the feature list is so long that you might have ignored that it comes with a 5 megapixel front camera. This camera is quite a good one and also comes with features like HDR so that you can shoot even against the light. The front camera can record full HD videos at 30 fps as well. Ironically the primary camera of this device has a lower resolution. This is because it is the ultra-pixel camera that features a large sensor with low resolution so that each pixel gets an adequate amount of light. This one however comes with two cameras on the back itself to add some more features to the camera.
Rest of the device is just as impressive as the cameras. It features an elegant aluminium body and is one of the best built android devices. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset and has got 2 GB of RAM. It is available with 16 and 32 GB storage options and supports micro SD cards as well.
Gionee Elife E7 Mini
The Gionee Elife E7 is a powerful device and comes with an 8 megapixel front camera. The Elife E7 mini is a scaled down variant of the Elife E7 and for selfie lovers, this is even better device. This device hasn’t got a dedicated front camera but instead features a camera that can be rotated around. So you can have the 13 megapixel autofocus camera with touch focus for shooting your selfies. We are very sure it can’t get any better than this.
Rest of the device is pretty decent as well. It has got a 4.7 inch 720p display which is quite good. It runs a Mediatek chipset with an octa core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz. The device comes with 16 GB of storage and there is no option to pick a version with more storage or expandable storage. It runs android 4.2.2 which is relatively old and on top of that is the Amigo OS, their skinned interface, which might not be to everyone’s taste.
Huawei Ascend P7
The Huawei Ascend P7 is an attractive and powerful 5 inch device which happens to come with a very impressive front camera. The secondary camera on this device has a resolution of 8 megapixels. This is quite a lot for a front camera. You can easily capture impressive looking images using this camera. The primary camera of this device is also a fairly decent 13 megapixel camera.
This device runs a quad core processor with the Cortex A9 cores running up to a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. It has got 2 GB of RAM. The Ascend P7 comes with a 5 inch full HD IPS LCD display. The device has an impressive design and is just 6.5 mm thick. It is also very light and tips the scale at just 124 Gms. And it manages to be this light while housing a 2500 mAh battery.
Gionee Elife S5.5
This is another impressive device from the stable of Gionee. It has got a 5 megapixel front camera which might seem to be very normal after the Elife E7 mini but it is pretty good. You can get some really nice shots with this front camera and the resolution is decent for posting over the internet if not for prints. The primary camera of this device has a resolution of 13 megapixels.
If you thought the previous device in this list was sleek, let us tell you that this one is just 5.6 mm thick. Yes it is a bit heavier at 133 Gms but that is still quite light. It comes with a 5 inch full HD display as well but it is an AMOLED display so you get very impressive contrast ratios and colour saturation. It also gets an octa core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz and has got 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage sits at 16 GB which might not suffice for some people. Sadly there is no expandable storage option but that is acceptable as it is a very slim device. It comes with a fairly decent 2300 mAh battery.
Sony Xperia C3
This is the latest device to join the selfie war. While the front camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels which isn’t exactly astonishing now, it has got a LED flash facing towards the front. This would help you shoot even when the light won’t allow otherwise. It has got an 8 megapixel primary camera which is an average performer.
The device comes with a large 5.5 inch display which has got an unimpressive 720p resolution. It runs a moderately powerful hardware. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1 GB of RAM. You can get the Xperia C3 in a 4G or a dual SIM variant. The design of this device is very much similar to the other new Sony devices like the M2 or Z3. There is stripe of metal along the sides of the device and it gets the familiar round metal power key. It features almost all the common connectivity options and is powered by a 2500 mAh battery. The battery life is impressive and to further boost it, they have added some software features to use power efficiently.
