use pendrive as ram     Sometimes our system shows the less memory space, it will cause the Slow performance of the PC, At that time we have to use the external memory device as the RAM(Random Access Memory). External Memory storage device like Pen drives to act as a Virtual Memory for the Computer.  In this article i’m going to discuss about how to use Pen Drive as RAM in Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP, Not only the pendrive you can also you the  SD card(memory card), external Hard Drive or any kind of portable flash storage device as the RAM.  As using the pendrive as the external memory you can  enhance the speed of boot-up, shut-down and the time to perform various tasks.

 To use Pen Drive as RAM in Windows 7 and Vista.

  • Plug Your Pen Drive atleast having an memory of 1GB upto 64GB in Your computer /Laptops USB(Universal Serial Bus) Port.
  • Wait for the Pen Drive Detection and see whether it is detected or not
  • Go to computer and right click on Pen Drive and click on format.
  • Format Your Pen Drive.
  • Right click on Pen Drive and go to Properties.
    (you can also go in its properties by selecting Pen Drive and by holding alt key press enter).
  • Go in Ready Boost tab after going to Pen Drives properties.
  • Now click on use this device and then allocate space to use.(Choose maximum space to reserve system speed)
  • Click on apply and then click on ok

Your readyboost PenDrive is ready Now to Use.

 

For Windows XP users:

  • Plug Your Pen Drive in Your PC/Laptops USB(Universal Serial Bus) Port.
  • Format Your Pen Drive.
  •  Right- Click on ‘My Computer’ and Go to ‘Properties’.(You can also go in its properties by selecting My Computer and by holding alt key press enter).
  •  Now Click on ‘Advanced’ tab.
  •  Click on the ‘Settings’ under Performance.
  •  Now Performance Options appears.
  •  Go to ‘Advanced’ tab  in performance settings
  •  Click on ‘Change’ option of Virtual memory.
  •  Select your Pen Drive.
  •  Click on ‘Custom Size’ . It shows the Initial and Maximum size of the Pen Drive.
  •  Click on the ‘Set’ button.
  • Click ‘OK’ to complete your setup.

 You can also use external hard drive, memory card or any kind of portable flash mass storage device instead of pen drive.

Now your Pen drive space is used for the System Virtual Memory .
